We're here in sunny Sacramento for the CLA conference!  I'm looking forward to hearing from the conference speakers such as Keynote speaker, Jonathan Perelman, Vice President of BuzzFeed Motion Pictures.  He's speaking tomorrow morning about how to use visual storytelling to tell your library's story.

And I might try out some tips I'm hoping to pick up at the program called "Blog-Savvy: Staff Blogging Tips & Tricks for Public Libraries!"

CLA always puts on great events, I'm sure this will be no different.

  1. I didn't know Buzz Feed had a motion pictures division. Their website is fantastic. They've got everything from fun Friends posts to political and social movements. Was he interesting and relevant?

  2. Hi Kristin - in answer to your question, here are 2 interesting things I took away from the program:
    1) there are 7 billion people in the world. 5 billion of those people have toothbrushes. 6 billion of them have smart phones.
    2) "Dear Kitten" is a commercial that covers all the bases for visual storytelling (emotional, identity and information). Most likely you can find it on Youtube - I think you'd enjoy watching it!

  3. Those numbers seem strange to me. It implies that there are a billion people that can afford a smart phone, but don't believe in dental hygiene. Or, it's misleading and there is a culture that does not use toothbrushes.

    1. Ok, you got me doing some research - see this link that shows some cultures clean their teeth with twigs:
