Increase Participation in Your Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program

Presented by Michael Whitley, Adult Services Librarian at the Alhambra Civic Center Library, this program drew on that library's decade of experience with Adult Summer Reading programming.  Frustrated by the very low number of adults signing up for the SRP, they decided to make some big changes, including:
*moving the registration desk to a more visible, high traffic area
*getting funding for incentive gifts
*training volunteers to work at the registration desk
*decorating the registration desk with balloons and other festive decor

These efforts were successful in raising the registration numbers from 40 to 300!  Definitely some interesting ideas to consider for RCPL's adult SRP in 2017.

Michael's self-deprecating sense of humor was definitely the high point of this presentation!
